Mapping everything that depended on the general ledger
Moving the general ledger touched every portal, service and report in the company, and most of them had no documentation. The first job was finding them.

The situation
The company was moving its general ledger off Dynamics AX. That touched every portal, service and report, and many of them were inherited systems with no documentation and no clear owner.
What I did
I led the technical side: tracking down every system that touched the ledger, and having the people who used each one sign off on it before cutover.
Why I did it this way
Sign-off from the people who use it
Validating with the people who use each report caught real problems that technical testing had passed.
What changed
The cutover happened with no impact on the business. As a side effect, the company had its first map of what depended on the old ledger.
