Getting a CRM, an ERP and custom apps to share data

Systems that didn’t talk to each other got a central hub, and someone could finally see when an integration failed.

The situation

The CRM, the ERP and several custom apps didn’t share data. The integrations that did exist were one-off, and nobody could see when one failed.

What I did

An integration hub on Azure that connected the systems through a message bus, with central logging and monitoring so the health of every data flow was visible in one place.

What changed

Data moved between the systems through one path, and failures showed up in monitoring as they happened.

Moving a desktop app suite to the web

A set of old Windows desktop apps held business rules nobody wanted to lose. They moved to the web in phases, with the rules intact.

Mapping everything that depended on the general ledger

Moving the general ledger touched every portal, service and report in the company, and most of them had no documentation. The first job was finding them.
